This long, statement painting was inspired (with permission) by the wonderful panoramic photographs of the Hebridean Photographer. The unusual level of detail available to me allowed a much more comprehensive view of the harbour than I might otherwise have been able to create. While the photographs were in the main, not very saturated with colour, I took the decision to work with a high key palette which seemed to best express the photographer's affection for Stornoway which he has long called his home.
