This painting was commissioned by a couple who had recently relocated from Scotland to New Zealand. It was loosely based upon another sold painting of mine they had admired but on a very different scale and with the inclusion of different materials. The composition also features different symbols which represent each member of their family. At the client's suggestion, the title is a nod to the author Alexander McCall Smith.
